Another weekend passed (with style)

Well well well. Another weekend passed. Wasn't a bad weekend, to be perfectly frank. Friday Ranc and myself went out to our new hangout... the Gogh, as the aristocracy has come to know it. For laymen, it's the Van Gogh beerhouse, a two bit. no horse, low-belly, six up and twice removed joint in a not quite as seedy as the bar would have it, area of copenhagen. A mixed variety of people come to The Gogh, apparently. Usually it's fairly empty (just the way I like it), but this friday it was.. well I was gonna say crammed, but I guess that's a bit of an overstatement. There were quite a lot of people. We usually go there to drink beer and play dice (a combo I found refuge in, back in school). Also, it allows one to not JUST have to talk. I mean, it's easier to talk about casual stuff when you have something to do with your hands at the same time. And of course, it's as good a chance as any, to look at people. Usually the clientelle is a little raunchy. But there were quite a lot of... young people in there this friday. One girl, Stine, was apparently the high roller of the night. Her primary feature was apparently, that she'd hug and grope any guy in close proximity, especially if the guy talked directly to her. She wasn't really bad looking, but I doubt I'd have ever gone for her, unless in a really drunken stupor. She also claimed she could write her name REALLY fast, a claim she later proved by writing Stine on a napkin. If the viewing public were impressed, I think they hid it fairly well.
Saturday were a bit of a mixup at first. As it often goes, my mom had made some plans to go someplace during the day, and offered to take me with her there (shopping). But I didn't hear from her, so she probably forgot. Happens a lot. Anyway, we went to a store to buy a fan for one of the smaller computers we've got standing around. It was finally time to fix up that server, that has been in the works for the better part of 3 years. It just needed a chassis fan to keep it from overheating. So we got one, and it is up and running. I had already put Ubuntu on there, with the intention of using it as a workstation, but since the other server I had intended to use were scrapped due to just being plain old fashioned shit, this machine was upgraded to server... for now. I'd really rather go with Debian with no GUI (save system resources), so I suspect this server might just be for goofing around, until I get another comp (the one this page was hosted on before the switch), which I can then use instead. And I think that will be the primary.. or something. Haven't worked it out yet. Perhaps one should give windows media center a shot... lots of options. We'll see.
Sunday was spent on the server and just goofing around in Diablo. Yeah, I play D2, and I'm proud of it. It's a fun game. Had a hard time getting to bed Sunday, so I'm pretty wasted today. I'm gonna go box this afternoon tho, my first time. I suspect it will be hard as hell, but fuck it... I need to be more active, and I've always heard boxing is one of the better ways to go about it. I won't participate in events of course (or will I? Perhaps the temptation to beat some guy to a pulp (or vice versa) will overcome me. I doubt it though). I'll just do it for the workout. Who knows, perhaps I'm a natural :) Either way, it should aid in me getting in shape for the winter. I might even start jogging (God forbid).
New people

Well another 3-5 hours of tinkering, fiddling, pulling hair out and talking to various people about the problems with gallery, I think I finally managed to set things perfectly straight. Had mgb work on part of the problem, namely the blank page when trying to view or delete images or folders. He upped the cache for php to 50mb, and that seems to have solved the problem. Secondly, I had enabled and then disabled debugging, but somehow it just didn't seem to leave. Everytime you loaded a page, a popup would come around, with debugging information, and gallery wouldn't do redirects. I was nearly crying, when finally good old Lasalas pointed out, in one of my frantic pastings, that I should take 5min and read descriptions. Because the answer had been in the config file I was vigorously messing with all day. I had $gallery->debug('false'); where it really should be $gallery->debug(false); ie. lose the quotes... It was so simple.. so extremely easy, I couldn't believe it. Anyway, Gallery ran like a beaut afterwards, and I damn well hope it stays that way.
That being said, I've spent a few hours tonight, reading about how to embed gallery in this blog system, so I'll probably spend some time messing with that. It prolly means more fuckups and downtime for either gallery or serendipity (or both), but I suspect in time, I'll have it worked out. The guys over at s9y forums are really cool and helpful, so I suspect I'll get there. Until then tho.... enjoy gallery as it is :)
Galler... well you know.. ARGH
