Well yesterday we had a little downtime here on dalif.com due to servers being fiddled with. I never found out exactly what happened, but apparently we got a new IP address. And the page is back in it's usual glorious form. So all is indeed well that ends well, as the old children's tales from the see foretells it (or something).
Also, my old online buddy, James, made a post in his blog yesterday, with a lot of amusing/annoying little "tests" to see your personality. I don't really take this for anything else than face value, but one of them stood out in particular. And that was the "what person are you based on your date of birth". I tested it, and what do you know? It was 100% right about me. Anyway, check it out, and don't forget to pay a visit to James' site. He may not update daily, but when he does... it's better than sex/chocolate/massages/throwing rocks at passing cars. You decide.

Clinton owns Wallace

I've always been a democrat by heard. I'm not really a man of extreme opinions, and I tend to think of myself as an open-minded with a pretty broad perspective. Most often, I try to see the bigger picture. And I think that is what made me a fan of former President Clinton and how he did things. Of course there are always two sides to every case, but overall, I think he did some very good things with the country. He certainly didn't induce as much hate of the US as the current president does. Clinton just seemed like, and still does, a really intelligent and professional guy. But first and foremost, I view him as just a kind of person who does what he does, out of love for his profession. He seemed to enjoy being a president because he knew he could make a difference (yeah I know I'm painting with the rosy red brush, just trying to get a point across). Of course he had his problems and mistakes too (and I'm not really talking about the whole Lewinsky affair), but who doesn't.
That's why I couldn't help but smile to myself, when I read about, and subsequently viewed the interview with him on Fox News Sunday, done by Chris Wallace. He basically wiped Wallace out, as far as I could see. And with good reason. He agreed to do an interview in which half of the show would be about his Global Warming work, and the other half about anything else. Wallace didn't quite adhere to that, as far as I see it, and Clinton attacks him for it. But Clinton is so well-spoken and rhetorically adequate, that Wallace seems like he is just out of words. He missteps, and can't straighten it up again.
It's always nice to see a good verbal fight on TV. And I don't like journalists.. I like them even less than politicians :) Anyway, click the below link to view all three parts of the interview.

I was finally granted the right to a better machine at work. One that can render faster and more efficiently. I've used a decent, but still crappy computer for the last year now, and because I don't whine or complain much, it's been left as is. And I've not minded terribly. I don't usually mind when I'm not the first in line for new stuff. As long as mine works, I'm ok. But my co-workers, one in particular who whines a lot, got something new last year, so I decided I'd like to get something new now. Well not new, but better. I finally did two days ago, and now have the task to set it all up. That's fine as such, but damn... this comp I'm on now is set up almost perfectly, and there is no way I can transfer it all, without forgetting something or missing another thing. I hate that. Ideally, I could just copy the HDD and let that be it. But it's not the best way to do it. Thankfully, I found an extension for firefox, that allows me to transfer almost ALL aspects of my browser setup. Prefs, extensions, bookmarks, plugins, themes etc. etc... just transferred it now, and it it got 90% or so. So that's pretty cool. mIRC I can just copy over, gaim I'll prolly have to do a vanilla install. Ain't too hard. Total Commander the same, not much set up in there yet anyway.Â
If you ever need to move firefox around, I'd suggest using this extension. Works like a charm.
SR is back!

ShareReactor was started back in the day (2000 I think), by Gowenna, a russian girl, who was well into p2p and that whole business. She recruited Simon Moon on to the team, along with a lot of other people, and Sharereactor.com eventually grew to one of the biggest filesharing indexing sites in the world. I started using the frontpage somewhere in 2002, right about when Gowenna died in a car crash. I only used the frontpage at first, but eventually discovered there was a forum as well, and that it was crammed with interesting posts. So I joined up, and settled in. I found the IRC chan as well, and joined there. Only a few months later, Simon Moon was raided my the Swiss authorities, and the servers were confiscated. Of course they had no case, seing as Simon hosted no files himself, and had nothing but perhaps a copy of Winblows illegally. But SR was down, and it was a huge blow to the p2p community. People were scattered, and BT started gaining on ed2k. But I stayed in the SR irc chan, and kept talking to the people who made SR what it was back then.
Recently, SR was finally brought back online. New code, but much the same look as back when. And while the start is a little slow, I think the page might return to the greatness it used to have. I've stuck with the sr community since it went down, despite many of the high profile people leaving, and now I'm back on the team as a mod of the series section. After that, things have moved pretty fast, and I'm not invited to join the distinctive motv crew of people, who live for tv series :) It's all very exciting, and it's nice to be part of something big again.Â
Anyway, head on over to sr and check it out. It's back, baby!
