ShareReactor was started back in the day (2000 I think), by Gowenna, a russian girl, who was well into p2p and that whole business. She recruited Simon Moon on to the team, along with a lot of other people, and Sharereactor.com eventually grew to one of the biggest filesharing indexing sites in the world. I started using the frontpage somewhere in 2002, right about when Gowenna died in a car crash. I only used the frontpage at first, but eventually discovered there was a forum as well, and that it was crammed with interesting posts. So I joined up, and settled in. I found the IRC chan as well, and joined there. Only a few months later, Simon Moon was raided my the Swiss authorities, and the servers were confiscated. Of course they had no case, seing as Simon hosted no files himself, and had nothing but perhaps a copy of Winblows illegally. But SR was down, and it was a huge blow to the p2p community. People were scattered, and BT started gaining on ed2k. But I stayed in the SR irc chan, and kept talking to the people who made SR what it was back then.
Recently, SR was finally brought back online. New code, but much the same look as back when. And while the start is a little slow, I think the page might return to the greatness it used to have. I've stuck with the sr community since it went down, despite many of the high profile people leaving, and now I'm back on the team as a mod of the series section. After that, things have moved pretty fast, and I'm not invited to join the distinctive motv crew of people, who live for tv series :) It's all very exciting, and it's nice to be part of something big again.Â
Anyway, head on over to sr and check it out. It's back, baby!
