After several days of pondering over manuals, guides, howto's and what have we, I think I finally managed to have the webserver running smoothly on Djarnis, the new server.
Vhosts constituted a main problem, and I had a bit difficulty in getting php to be included properly. Now, at least, it's up and running. I'll have to secure it better eventually, but it's just an accomplishment getting it running. The first domain hosted there is rancor's, which uses the same blog software as I do here, namely serendipity, an excellent choice really, if you're new, but still want state of the art cms.
Anyway, it was nice to get this small success. My next project is a mailserver.... and I suspect it will be pretty hard. But, what is life without a challenge :)
server is rocking on

Took a turn with the server yesterday, finally got the webserver running. Apache2 and whatnot. Took me some fiddling about, and I'm still in the process of sorting everything out. But it's running, and serving pages, and every seems to work well. One problem tho, for some reason I can't view or connect to any services I'm running from this IP. I mean, I run an ftp server that I use from work. Connecting just fine from there. But I can't connect to it from home. So it seems the router is refusing to send and receive traffic on the same port. Can't view the webpages I'm serving myself, unless I view them on LAN. Slightly annoying, as it had me thinking it wasn't working at all for a long while.
Anyway, it's up and running, and I'm quite chuffed about that. Next project: a mailserver. Updates will follow :)
