Just the usual

Bored stiff these days. Work is pretty shite. If I don't do anything, I'm bored. If I start up a project that I'd like to do, I'm told to do something else. I don't really get it. It's lame, and I'm fed up with it. Got the lamest assignment today. I dunno if it's on purpose or what, but it seems like the best thing is to find the least suited person, then insist on him/her doing that specific job. Just fucked up.Â
On a happier note, dieting and working out at the gym is on bigtime now, and it's feeling pretty good. Had a good run in on Monday with a lot of working out (not just lifting weigths) and I felt well cool afterwards. Wanted to go again yesterday, but different things drew it out, and I ended up not going. Today was planned as well, but we just had a fuckload of snow here, and Ranc had to stay late at work, so it's been postponed to... tomorrow I guess. I'm hoping we/I can go three days a week. Seems like we're getting somewhere.
Got a reply from the journalist on Politiken about my "case". Pretty interesting. I don't have any hopes for anything really, nor do I care if the case is re-opened, but it's amusing anyway, to have a case that's active again after a full year. Looking forward to seeing what that's about.
And finally, I've taken up a bit of gaming again. Oblivion. It's 60% fun I guess. Keeping me off the streets anyway. And that's always a positive thing.
Oh well, nothing really interesting. If I get the time, I might try and do up a logo for this blog. Something nifty. I'm getting used to this blackish darkish look. Kinda liking it. The green orange one was just... I dunno. Didn't fit me, I don't think. RIGHT... dinner time. Toodles.
News for an old case

I was contacted by Niller today, with some pretty interesting news. Some of you will remember my involvment last year, in a case with the media here in Denmark. I was contacted by journalists from one of the tabloids, because I had posted a story about a prominent person, on rudiment. It was all blown out of proportions by the morons at this tabloid, who thought they could threaten and coerce me into giving them what they wanted.
Anyway, apparently another respectable newspaper (read: actual newspaper with actual interesting and relevant news) brought an article about their rough methods used to get their stories. The fucker who contacted me and thought he was the big guy on the block, was mentioned with some glorified quote: blah blah blah we always do things by the book etc. etc.
The usual bullshit. Anyway, it was an interesting read, and Niller, always plotting to bring justice forth, and I figured it'd be time to reopen the case. I'm not gonna divulge any information yet, but relevant steps have been taken to ensure the general public will see that journalist's true face. Stay tuned.

Yeah.. in an interesting twist, I may have just joined up in the developement of an open source first person shooter computer game. It's just in the startup phase, but... still pretty interesting.Â
I was idling in #3dsmax on Quakenet when I this guy joined, and asked if anybody was interested in joining him and 7 others in developing a game. Since I'm desperately looking for any experience in this particular field, I figured an open source project with no deadlines, no money etc.. would be a perfect place to get it. No demands, no angry investors. Just people doing it for the fun of it.
Anyway, the project is called Varzeneh: Chapter 1, and can be found over at sourceforge. Will be following this vehemently and with great interest. Hoping to see my name in the credits some day :)
aaaaaand back!

Well... the title says it all. I arrived back home Sunday afternoon, and spent most of my evening and night with catching up with everything that's been going on, on the internet while I was away. Spam had to be sorted, mails read, downloads looked through, people talked to and all that sort of business. It was a good two weeks away, but being home does have it's benefits.
So, skiing for 2 weeks. It was very nice to be back on a pair of wooden planks again, after a 4 year hiatus from the slopes. And wouldn't you know it, I was just as good a skier as I remembered myself to be :) Of course there's room for improvement, but I daresay I could negotiate my way down almost any slope in any type of condition you can throw at me. But overall, the weather was pleasant, the slopes were decent and the food was plentiful.
Only a few negatives about the whole deal, namely the nights. We didn't bring a laptop this year, and I can't deny that we suffered accordingly. Watching a movie or some eps of a series at night is really nice, and I missed that. German television sucks, basically. It's utter shit. All the shows and movies you love, with german dubbing... it can really ruin even a good flick like Die Hard. Bruce Willis talking German? Get the fuck out.
So I took up another old passion; reading. 5 books in two weeks, with time to spare for another, had I been able to find an english book amidst the german litterature. Of the 5 books, 2 of them were very good, 2 were a decent enough read, and one was pretty crap. They are as follows (in the order just named):
- Man who hates women (Danish) by Stieg Larsson
- The girl who played with fire (Danish) by Stieg Larsson
- Hundehoved (Danish) by Morten Ramsland
- The Afghan (English) by Frederick Forsythe
- Cockpit (English) by Jerzy Kosinski
The two books by Stief Larsson are widely popular. I'm hoping they are translated to English, as both books are definitely worth the time of most people. Absorbing, with a good flow and a very interesting plot indeed. I was mildly amazed at how easy and interesting they were. Even with my scattered mind, small attentionspan and lack of abilities to concentrate, these books were litterally pageturners, and I hardly put them down, when first I had started reading. Hundehoved was a fun little read, but I kind of disliked the last few chapters. Sort of felt like he rounded it off in a weird and unconclussional way. The Afghan was a classic terrorist vs. the west novel. Well researched, the story was somewhat compelling, but it wasn't like... it didn't quite cut it as a timeless classic. And finally, cockpit... I dunno, perhaps it's a great novel on some levels. But I didn't like the narrator. I know he's supposed to be slightly unsympathetic. But he just felt like the kind of dick I'd never associate myself with. And to top it off, he didn't catch my interest as the kind of guy who does sick shit, just to make a statement. The book overall was pretty crap, imo.
Ok... enough rambling. I'll recount some of the more interesting events on my skiing trip later on. Just wanted to let you guys know, I was back. Back in the proverbial black... and to this design even. I dunno about this skin for dalif.com... it's a little wack, imo. I'll see about changing it.
