Ahhh... familiar surroundings. It's damn nice to mess around in the serendipity user interface again. And with this 1.1.2 update of the software, comes a few new plugins and stuff. Still sort of sifting through them as we speak, but the keen of eye will have noticed the absence and presence of an old and new, respectably, plugin in the sidebar. The keener of eye will see a few of the static page links from the Linksies sidebar. And the less keen of eye won't have failed to notice that the design of the site has indeed been revamped as well. The design is, in my opinion, one of the better ones packaged in the large template installation folder, and since Ranc brought it to my attention some months ago, I've secretly wanted to use it for myself. Ever had that? When a friend got something that you'd normally like to get, but couldn't, because now they had it first? Well that was the case here, but in the end I just thought fuck it. Besides, I'm hoping to look into modifying this template, and create my own top bar image thingy at some point (when I can be arsed).
So, the template also allowed me to add a few static links to the topbar (home, faq, gallery, contact and admin), which means the linksies sidebar don't need those anymore. I will be using that to highlight interesting entries (if I do say so myself), and of course, keep the links to my good friends around the web. The admin block wasn't needed either, so that's gone as well. And the stats block has appeared instead. I'm currently fiddling with a few more plugins to make the life of you, but in a higher degree, me, a lot easier. That's by adding various backend features, that will allow me to create a host of pages and fun stuff in the true dalif.com style. It'll pretty much rock. I'd ask you to stay put, but... I know you will anyway :p
*SOB* are we back?

It's... back? Weeeeee. For a while I thought this was it... dalif.com gone forever. Could it be true? I could barely dare to think the thought to an end. It's funny tho, this absence of my blog has put the whole blog experience into perspective. And I've realized just how much it really means to me, to have this blog as an outlet for my thoughts. Granted, not even 1% of my thoughts is written up in here, but I do like to sort of have it around as a creative outlet.Â
I'm glad my beloved blog is back, and I can start to post again. A lot of stuff has, of course, happened while we've been away. I doubt I'll be able to recall most of it, but now I can start to write stuff down again.
The whole point of the upgrade was to enable a few new cool features... I hope I will be able to mess around with it in the next few days, without fucking everything up once more. It's mainly cool plugins and whatnot, and perhaps a new template. Ole Ranc snagged the one I liked just before me, but I migth actually give it a go anyway. It's really cool. And it has one particular feature I'd like to have.
Anyway, thanks goes out to my wonderful sysadmin, mgb for his help in restoring dalif.com to it's former glory. Stay tuned, folks. I will get around to pestering you with weird little writings and funny tidbits from my own personal life soon enough. Toodles!
New idea... you lot can poll on it

Yeah, lately, I've kind of imagined myself coming up with a lot of amusing Top 10 lists to post on here. YES, I know it's been done and it's corny etc.. but here's what I have to say to that: I don't give a flying hoohaa. How about that?Â
Now that we've got a few things straight between us, dearest reader, I'll go ahead and let you guys have a say (note that I don't mention whether I'll listen to the result or not), but I'll set up the poll on the side to reflect the contents of this post.
So anyway, top 10 lists.. no particular topic, no particular reason. It might provoke something interesting. I'll try my very very VERY best to make them a full and rich experience, ie. have soundclips, musicbits, filmsnips and quotations from whatever the top 10 topic is... And it won't be a daily, even tho I know a few of you guys are out there with crossed fingers, going "please let it be daily please let it be daily, so I can visit this great site again and again". But that's a NO... You will NOT waste your time in here daily.. it's just not right.
ANYWAY... on a somewhat dissimilar and totally closely non-related note, I will attempt to update my blog system tonight, from version 0.9, to 1.1... It's a bit of a dangerous course of actions, in as much as my system administrator is out of town... so if shit happens, I might be in the dark for a while. Here's to hoping it wont :D With the new version comes lots of interesting plugins and shit. Also, I'll probably attempt to make this skin a little more interesting, and, finally, I'll be trying to embed gallery2 better, so as to have the site more comprehensible and a better overall experience, see? So expect changes in the not so distant futurette. Until then, my lollipops, don't wait up!
Did he play that flute or didn't he?

Pan's Labyrinth. Went to see it yesterday, and I was pleasantly surprised. Or perhaps not surprised, as I had seen and read about it, and the general consensus was, that it had a lot of good moments in it. I'm not gonna bore you with a full review, I'll save that for the papers, but I will say, that I found the movie really intruiging and interresting. It had a ver ycool visual style to it, and was pretty consistent throughout.Â
I overheard some people talk about the title afterwards, and one of them pondered why it was called Pan's Labyrinth. Now, I don't claim to any sort of expert on this area, but upon thinking back to my days of latin at school, which included, due to friends, a certain amount of greek mythology as well, I seem to remember Pan being the name of perhaps the most (in)famous faun. Pan is a goat herder/shephard with a knack for errect phalluses. He was also a god of inspiration and of panic, which corrolates nicely to this movie. The original title, in Spanish, happens to the the labyrinth of Faun. So at least some pieces fall into place. I'd go into more detail, but I don't want to spoil anything for people, so all I can say is, watch it and see for yourself. I'll be getting the nice shiny looking DVD whenever it's out, so swing by and I'll happily watch it with you. Don't forget to bring Coke Zero and perhaps a little bag of candy...
