Yeah, went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3 the other night. It was a marathon-thing, so they had all three movies at the cinema in one night. And of course, Ranc and I watched the lot. Started at 6pm, ended at 3am. Overall, it was a pretty cool experienced. I had, as usual, not slept a lot the night before, so I was pretty beat when we started. But besides a few minutes of nodding off half way through the first pirates, I had no trouble whatsoever.Â
We arrived in splendid time, and started off with a bit to drink and a small amount of candy. I'm not usually big on candy in the cinema, but thought wtf this time. The showroom was hot as hell tho, so I was well pleased with my drink. Of course, the showroom was pretty packed. Quite a lot of people in various degrees of costumes. Since it was packed, Ranc and I sat with people close to us. And the collective heat exhaustion from all the people in there, created a pretty hot and pretty humid atmosphere. Add to that an old weird guy on our right, who was snapping his fingers along to the music, half sleeping and saying lines from the movie a few minutes before they happened on screen. I dunno what the deal was with him. I can imagine going to a movie by myself. I'd have no problem with that as such. But going to a fucking movie-marathon for 9 hours all by me onesies just wouldn't be fun.. for me. Anyway, he was there.
When the third movie rolled around, we decided to scour the room for new seats. And it turned out it wasn't as packed as we had originally thought. So we found some comfortable seats in the back, same view as before, but lots more room to breath. At the end of the movie, which was a pretty decent watch (liked 1 and 2 better tbh, but it was still great stuff), it was still pretty damn hot. Against our normal course of actions, we stormed out of the theater, to avoid the crowd. Only later do I find out there's a scene after the credits. Pretty annoying. Anyway, I guess I'll just have to go watch it again :)
The movie itself, as I said, was a decent watch. I liked a lot of the things in this movie, but I thought it had a few points that were just... I dunno, not really called for. Tia Dalma was nice, as always. I love her accent, it's just too cute! And I enjoyed the scenes with her and Davy Jones. Showed a tenderness in the Jones character that I had sort of figured was there when I saw him in the second movie, but really only came out in the third. He's a cool character. Jack S is, as always, pretty amusing. Chow Yun Fat did a swell job as Sao Feng, but he could've gotten a little more screentime if it was up to me.
Anyway, overall an enjoyable experience. They showed the Silver Surfer original trailer as well as the Die Hard 4.0 trailer... both movies look awesome. I didn't like the first Fantastic Four particularly much, but the effects of the second one are just breathtaking. So the professional 3D artist in me is drooling. Die Hard just looks to be one of the coolest movies ever. Bruce Willis... seriously, does it get any cooler? (Well, Samuel Jackson might give old Bruce a run for his money, but still...). I think they'll do a Die Hard marathon as well. 4 movies. It's gonna be hard, but fuck it... it'll be many hours in the company of Bruce and lots of nonstop action. Yaarrrr

... when Professor Xavier is in the fake Cerebro in X-men 2, and Jason is making him kill all the humans in the world with his mind... what the hell were all the people in the world thinking 5 min after it stopped. I mean, imagine this. You're walking along, with your shopping bags, not a care in the world. All of a sudden, there's an unexplained but very powerful surge of pain in your head... you drop to your knees, and through your teary eyes and muffled scream, you see everybody around you on their knees as well. 5 minuts of agonizing pain, and all of a sudden it stops, and everybody is ok... What the hell do you think? Do you just pick up the grocery bags, and continue on with your life. I mean, we must have about 6 billion people in the world going WTF simultanously. What was done to explain it to them? Imagine this as well; a guy is doing some very sensitive virus work in a lab. He's moving a vial with one of the most potent and lethal viruses ever known to man kind. Dropping the vial would result in a world wide epidemic that could potentially wipe out man kind. He's almost there, but what is this? A seering pain flows through his mind.. he's unable to hold on to the vial... he drops it.. It's the end of the world as we know it.
Try to fix THAT problem, Professor X!
Gray hunger

Boy things are looking gray around here right now. I made it home yesterday, after yet another day of dullness at work, while it was still dry outside. Brooding clouds were a sign of rain to come, so I figured.. I'll go home, and then go shopping. But it started raining pretty soon after I got home. Well, plenty of time until they close. I'll wait til it stops raining. But it didn't. Cut to 4 hours later.. it's 10pm, and I'm hungry as hell. What's a poor vegetarian to do? It's raining hard as hell outside, and there is literally NOTHING in the fridge or any of the adjourning cupboards. No pasta, no rice, no bread, no anything. It's outside, or go to bed hungry. So I gear up, and head on out. I walk around for 20minutes before I find a place that sells anything satisfactory. My entire suit of clothes is drenched. I find out, the hard way, that there's a hole in my left shoe sole. Argh.
Today isn't any better. I just now returned from another fruitless endeavor to find food. It's a holiday around these parts, so I took a chance that some of the larger supermarkets were open. They weren't. Walking around for 20min, refusing to buy fast food on general principle, I finally decided on heading on into a middle eastern shop of sorts. A greengrocer, I guess you could call them, but really it's a little convenient store with lots of interesting wares and items on the shelves. I pick up a pack of chicken sausages, and decide then and there, I'm going for chicken sausages and mashed potatoes when I get home. It's 4pm, and I haven't eaten a thing yet... planning on changing that. Here's to hoping the weather will clear up before Saturday.

Yeah.. I bought a new comp today. After having this bad boy I'm on now for just over 4 years, it's time to cave in, and fork out some dough for a new one. It's gonna be thousands of hertz of Processor goodness, coupled with some killer graphics, some nice memory and a spiffing case to keep it all in. Yup, the start of a new era. But I'm gonna miss this old one tho.. it's been like a brother to me. Always there when I needed it, and to be fair, I haven't had problems with it for years. It's the most stable install I've ever had. Runs like a doozy... most of the time. After a defragmentation of me old harddrives, I've gained like 40% speed back.Â
Anyway, the new box will arrive Friday, which means I'll be occupied for the weekend. I'm off work for 4 full days, and it's just needed bigtime. Just going to bed at night, and knowing I don't have to wake up at a specific time the morning after. mmmmm one of my favorite feelings in the world.
On a slightly related, but not really, note; I've considered starting to play poker, just so I'd have something to do when I was at home anyway. Online that is. But I'm not sure I'd enjoy it a whole lot. Also, when I get my new box, coupled with this new LOVELY monitor, hopefully I'll be able to do a lot more 3D modelling at home. And that's gonna be swell. Should keep me busy at night, I hope. I'll pot pics and updates on the gear, as soon as I've got it. Cheers!
