Bruce takes the piss out of me

Interesting fact: Dalif has only ever gone to that pesky bathroom during two movies he's watched in a movie theater. Both movies were Bruce Willis flicks. And it was the same theater both times. Coincidence? Hardly. Bruce just makes me have to go weewee. I hate going out on a flick, but I'd rather spend a minute going to take a piss, than have to share attention between a full bladder and the movie.
Besides me having to be in absentia for about a full minute (I went when Bruce was flying the chopper from the powerplant), the movie absolutely positively ruled. Granted, it was totally far out over the top and without so much as a shred of even attempting believability. But we don't give a fuck about that. It's Bruce, it's Die Hard, it's all out action for 2 hours. And boy was there action. Explosions, shootings and Bruce with a blood covered shirt. It's just like in the good old days. I loved it. Laughs, thrills and macho through and through.
I'm not really gonna go into details about plot, composition or any technical stuff like that. We all know what this is. Bruce was... well his performance is vintage Bruce. He basically wrote the book on the cocky, tough as hell, take no shit from anyone character. And he plays McClane to perfection. Easily the coolest movie character of all time. And his daughter wasn't all that bad (altho I'd never dare ask her out... Bruce'd beat me to death). Justin Long did a swell job as the nerdy Matt.
This movie has a lot of high tech stuff, and as always it's geared up for the big screen. So doing anything they'd like is as easy as pressing random buttons on a keyboard. However, as opposed to other movies (like Swordfish), this movie did portray the hacking population a little better than usual. Matt's dekstop is crowded with icons and his terminal is opaque, like a true geek'd have it :) And they do have some actual hacking displayed on screen.
Overall, it was 10 for 10. I didn't get a killcount.. lost track fairly fast. But it's got what it takes to be up there with any old flick you could toss at it. It's all about kickass, and it knows it. And that insight makes it a true gem.
Exactly like you had it pictured

I'm in love with this track. 'It's Just Like you Imagined' with Nine Inch Nails. It was used in the trailer for the movie 300 (which I've reviewed earlier on), and I dunno if it's the connotations that follows with being associated with that movie or if it's the sheer awesomeness of the song by itself, but I can't stop listening to it. It's totally captivating and enthralling. The composition, the images it creates, the harmony of whatever instruments. I can hear it on a loop for hours. Found the video today, and wanted to share it. First time I've seen this vid too.. it's kind of weird, but also cool in an artistic and absurd way.
Ex-brothers

Callback from the past yesterday. Self-induced, sure, but it was still weird. Me up with a brother of an old ex of mine. Haven't seen him in 4 years. In the spirit of rekindling old friendships, and being finally past the whole experience of loss of love and my surrogate family (a whole other story), I decided I was ready to give him and her other brother a shout. Had planned to meet up yesterday, the three of us, but one fell ill, and had to cancel. So it was a 1on1 instead.Â
As always, I'm nerveous with these kinds of things. Afterall, as I said, it's a heavy part of my past I'm dragging back to the surface. But in the interest of self-exploration and self-realization, I thought it'd be a good thing for me. Besides which, apart from feeling like brothers, they both ended up being good friends. People who understood and just accepted me. Something I wasn't used to. The loss of them took it's toll.. but I'm remedying that now.
So yesterday was a spiffing evening. Met up at 7:30 and had a pint, then went to eat. Lots of talking, and while it took me a bit to adjust, it soon enough felt natural, like in the old days. Many memories were brought about, and I was pleased to find none of them hurt at all. We parted ways at 11pm roughly, and made tentative plans to meet up again, the next time including the hopefully by then healthy second brother. The talking, in the final hour circled largely around movies, and I think some meetings in the future might include some heavy duty flicker show watchings. Both of these dudes have married, I'm sorry to say this guys, girls who are cool and sweet in almost every aspect of life.. but their movie taste just leaves a LOT to be wanted. So that's where old Dalif comes in. The man has impeccable taste in films. No no, don't deny it. We all know it to be true.
Also, on a side note, I was amazed to learn that this poor guy had never watched or even heard of Scrubs. Scrubs! It's like the coolest show running at the moment. I didn't hesitate to scold him, and inform him that Scrubs is on par with Friends in overall fun and coolness. I guess I'll have to educate him further on a later date.
I left the meeting lighthearted and lightspirited. It's all good. All good indeed.
Getting mah ears wet

Boy, the weather huh? Was gonna hang out with Tessa yesterday, so at about five pm, she swings by and collects me. It's raining, but it's still sort of a drizzle, so I think what the hey... it's just rain. Yeah well, in a way I was correct in that assumption. We walked to her room, a good 900-1000 meter walk, and by about the midpoint, the rain picked up. It was galeforce winds and rain to boot. Tessa, always the smart girl, was wearing rainclothes and even tho her bag and the openings in the clothes were getting wet, she was still dry overall. I, on the other hand, always the blindly self-assured optimist, was wearing just my standard stuff.. and I got hit with several full broadsides. Had to drop most of my clothes when we got to her room, which, on a positive note, brought back memories of good times gone past.Â
We ate, talked and laughed for a few hours, once more assuring me that Tessa just is one sweet person and a very good friend. But all the while we enjoyed ourselves on the inside, so was the rain on the outside. And in no measure was it ceasing it's relentless assaults on Copenhagen. When time came for me to leave, it was as heavy as ever (the rain). Tessa, who's going back to the UK for a month to work for Carlsberg once again, offered her older bike to me, and I gladly accepted. But to no avail... the fucking back tire was flat with about as much air in it, as outer space. Ouch. So, the old legs were to carry me back through 1000 meters of the heaviest rain since Noah's motherfucking ark.
Let me tell you right now, boys and to a hopefully certain extent girls; when I finally got home, I was soaked through and through. I had a dry patch from about the middle of my back, and all the way to the middle of the back of my thighs. The rest of drenched in rain. It was torrental rain outside. It didn't even see like there were raindrops... the water just came down in solid shafts of water. Quite amazing. I've seen some fucked up rain in my time. This baby yesterday must've clocked in on at least a top ten of heavy rain sessions. That I've seen, that is. When walking home, I didn't even bother being annoyed. I was soaked, and decided I might as well take it for a fun ride. So I was seen walking down the street, whistling and feeling high spirited, but soaked through and through.
