Back in 95/96, right after 9th grade here, which is the last mandatory year of schooling here in Denmark, I decided I wanted to travel a year abroad. It was sort of an in the spur of the moment decision, but when the application was accepted, it was all pretty real. 15 years old, and ready to take on the world. I'll not go into details about the stay with my family in the states, because that's not what this post is about. But I learned a lot of things while I was there. One is my love for the diversity of food, and how you can always find at least 3-4 different companies' take on the same product. A favorite passtime of mine was to just hang out at the supermarket.
Anyway, I also learned the love for a few different types of food/beverage. Dr Pepper for instance.. greatest soda ever. It became available in Denmark a year or two back, but it's a weird watered down version that I can't come to terms with. Then recently Mountain Dew came over here, and they struck gold with this one. It's exactly as I remembered it. It's only in selected stores so far, but still... I buy it once in a blue moon.
So today, I was in a gas station, looking for something with sugar to keep me going through sleep deprevation and lack of food. I grabbed a Mountain Dew.. and then I saw it. The one thing I've probably missed the most from living in stateside North America; the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup

It's soooooo nice and peanutty. They made a lot of variants of this.. this is the classic tho. I've missed it dearly. Now, it doesn't look official, so I fear it's not a good I should get used to being around, as it may be yanked without notice. But I bought one just now, and was instantly torn back to '96 North Carolina. mmmmmm. They made a breakfast cereal with the Peanut Butter flavor as well, and it will forever remain my absolute favorite cereal. Amazing. This just made my day :)
