So, my first week at the hotel is over, and boy was it ever so hard. Getting up early was never something I was particularly cool with. I've never had problems getting up early, I've just never liked it. In fact, I hate early mornings with a vengeance. But I was scheduled for 4 of them in a row here, as a training intro to the team and the procedures in the reception. First off, I must admit I'm finding everybody working at the hotel to be good and friendly people. The guy who I was annoyed with because he told me I was late the first night, is really a good guy. I think he was just.. dunno what he was. But I like him. I spent my first day with the senior duty manager, going through the hotel from top til bottom, looking at rooms, checking out doors and elevators. As hotels go, this one is fairly complicated when it comes to infrastructure. When I worked at the Marriott, things were easy peasy. But then again, the mood at the Marriott wasn't ever nearly as cool as it is here. I've seen a lot of familiar faces too, from my time in the hotel business. Seems like a lot of them have gathered at this hotel. I guess that says a lot.Â
So, 3 days of meeting at 8am and one day of meeting at 7am. And of course the night before the 7am shift was the night I REALLY had trouble getting to bed. So I was epicly tired when I met at work. But still I manged to get through it all. And it was fairly easy too. In fact, so easy that I was offered to stay as a daytime receptionist. I declined however, but agreed to fill in for one of their receptionists in the whole of November, as she is getting operated on. Something with her leg.. I didn't really care. I said I'd do it, if they gave me only evening shifts. And what do you know, they agreed to that, after a LOT of calling around. So I guess I carry some weigth already. That's nice. I kind of regretted saying yes tho, as I really did want to work there as a Night Service Manager, and I'll be losing out on cash this way. But I'm not usually prone to say no when I'm fresh in a new place. You know, show goodwill and all that jazz. Besides, I'll be working my beloved nights come December anyway. And with a bit of luck, I'll have gotten myself a new laptop by then, enabling me to do a whole lotta other work in there, such as animating, typing, writing and do subtitles for movies. Gotta get into that. The procedures and system at the hotel is a piece of cake, and I'll have no trouble adapting fully.
Time to go grab a bit. I've got more stuff to tell, but I'll wait til after midnight, so as to space my entries out. Yes, I'm a stats whore... and that means I'll look even more active in here. October hasn't been good to dalif.com.. mostly because when I do fuck all, all day, I have an even harder time getting myself into gear to write and do practical stuff. I just end up sitting and wasting more time than even my motto on here suggests I should. Anyway, I'll see you retards in a few hours. Toodle pip!
