Wow.. has it really been that long. Well I guess easter took its toll on me. Been working a lot lately, so I kind of got myself into a slack on this site. It is of course not my intention to close it down, so don't worry folks... it's merely a little lump on life's long straight line. Anyway, not really a lot has happened since before easter. But for updates on what has gone on, read along...
The keen reader will have noticed an abundance of post categories. Well there is, as always, a logical explanation. In this case, it is because I've got a few topics that just so happens to fall in those categories, that I would like to discuss with you all.
As you can see in the gallery, I have recently begun a new phase of my 3D work, namely messing with photorealistic materials and renders, such as, and in this case, vray. It's pretty nifty, and it marks a new era, in which I'm finding myself able to actually make stuff that looks somewhat realistic and thus nice. Check it out...
I recently went to the movies, and saw Tsotsi, a movie that surprised me rather pleasantly. It was very good. A, what I believe to be, realistic depiction of the life of street thugs in Johannesburg, South Africa. Tsotsi is the main character, a thug with feelings and a heart, mostly in the right place. The story was well paced, acting was superb, and it didn't fall into the many traps and clichees often seen in such movies. But what intrigued me the most, was the language. Apparently the language mostly spoken by the thugs, is Tsotsi-taal, or street language. I thought it was Afrikaan at first, but upon further review, I realized I was far off. Tsotsi-taal, apparently, is a mix between english, zulu, french and lots of other languages and dialects. Anyway, the movie was pretty cool, and I'd urge you guys to check it out.
And in other news... I was contact tonight, actually an hour ago, through the contact form on this site, by a journalist from a local sleazy magazine. Apparently he had read the follies of the actors at the hotel at which I work, and wanted to ask me if I had more information or perhaps even.. yes... indeed.. a photo. I mean... wtf? The story is seriously not interesting apart from the fact, that it's a little amusing for me and the colleague on shift with me that night. Why would anybody want to read about that? And why would we have a picture of it. Anyway, I laughed out loud at his request, and kindly informed him, that if I wanted to sell myself, I'd find the way to do it myself. "I may be a douchebag, but at least I don't beat off to tranny-porn" a wise man once said... I think that sentence fits now more than ever. Humorous, if anything...
Oh well, that's about it really. On a not at all related but still somewhat interesting note, I bought myself a USB hub today (7 ports, Sandberg), that currently resides on my desk. I've been meaning to get one for ages, since I'm sick and tired of having to mess around on the floor everytime I need to hook stuff up to the USB outputs. It's fairly small, but has a wicked blue LED shining everything up. I dunno if I like it or hate it. And I bought a TV cap card thingy from Hauppage today as well.. it's USB driven, and will enable me to watch TV and listen to FM radio on my comp, as well as hook up various devices to the comp, and cap from it. I've got a few old amateur we-are-in-high-school-and-we-believe-we-are-movie-makers tapes around, that I'd like to get digitalized. So I hope this can help me. It's still in the box, because I'm lazy. But I can't wait to break it in.
Ok.. that's enough rambling for now. Take care all, and enjoy whatever lives you have :) See you on the proverbial flipside.
