Well, I was refreshing digg for the umpteenth time this night when this item popped up. I guess Jack Thompson isn't really news anymore as he just raves on and on, but I thought it would be interesting with at post with some interesting reading about him. As follows:
- Jack Thompson vs. Penny Arcade
- PA Strip
- VG Cats Email exchange
- Jack and the gamers (Wikipedia article)
- Jack Thompson writes Bono a letter
- How the 'Flowers for Jack' project turned out

I just stumbled upon a great quote by Isaac Asimov over at Timelessquotes thats very (IMHO) relevant to all this Intelligent Design nuts. So without further ado:
I wont deny that religion to some folks is very important, but when they try to debunk science by confusing the meaning of 'scientific theory' I draw the line.
This is my first post at the dalif.com rostrum so I gues a little personal description is in order.
I'm a 20 year old male living in Vejle, Denmark. I came to know Dalif on IRC and have since felt a need to bug him to the end of his or my lifetime. I have a broad field of interest that includes Computers in general but more specifically free software (as in Linux), strategic and FPS games, music, movies, british humour and roleplaying. I guess those are topics that will frequently sneak into my posts here.
I manage the domain stygian.dk on an old P3 333 Mhz running Debian/testing. This is my personal playground but right now I need a new VGA card to get it up and running (for some reason it doesn't connect anymore).
[Update]
Apropos the above quote, I just noticed this over at slashdot. Hopefully this little win for the enlightened will silence some of the dumb fucks who might as well believe in the almighty FSM or the holy Invisible Pink Unicorn.
[Update 2]
Alright, I guess I spoke out in happiness too soon. I guess the people of Utah weren't the enlightened people I thought (wow, if that isn't an oxymoron I don't know what is) as proven by the following news excerpt.
That's some pretty scary reading!
Creationists make it sound as though a 'theory' is something you dreamt up after being drunk all night.

[Update 2]
Alright, I guess I spoke out in happiness too soon. I guess the people of Utah weren't the enlightened people I thought (wow, if that isn't an oxymoron I don't know what is) as proven by the following news excerpt.
Professor Duane Jeffery, a professor of biology at Brigham Young University, estimates that "probably 90 percent of people who are LDS think the church is against evolution. But they don't get upset about it being taught in public schools." The reason, he says, is the church seminary system, which provides junior high and high school students with a class period of religious instruction during school hours. "Most parents feel their religion is being take care of in seminary," Jeffery says. Conservative gadfly Gayle Ruzicka, president of the Utah Eagle Forum, sees it this way: "Utah's children, for the most part are taught by their parents that evolution is not correct science. The parents feel more control because they know they're teaching their children the truth at home." That truth, she says, is that "you are a child of God," a phrase that Mormons learn from the time they can talk, she says. "It's a year or two of learning about evolution vs. a lifetime of hearing that you are a child of God. Evolution just doesn't win out."
That's some pretty scary reading!
