I'm gonna go ahead and add this to the Not Quite IRL category for, what I hope will become apparent, obvious reasons. It's time for a tale of what I think is best described as media whoring, told by your old friend, Dalif.

Pet Project

That's right. I've got another project running. I am a man of a million projects. But whereas most of them stay in the grand and marvellously carefree world of ideas and thoughts, this one will actually be transferred into the real world. Yes folks, this one is going to happen.
I've had a small moviemaker in me for years. I'm sure a lot of people have, and I'm no different (at least not in that regard). I've been into movies my whole life, watching them and memorizing lines, actors, actresses, titles and plotlines. I've written quite a lot of stuff myself. Nothing fancy, but just stuff I think would be kind of nifty having produced.
Anyway, not having a lot of money to back me up, or friends in high places, I've taken to go mostly for the productions I can actually see through with, and not those that will be put on hiatus because I don't have the proper backing. In any case, this project is possible with a very few means, albeit a lot of time.
On to the point. I am going to make a 3-5minute stop motion animation/movieclip with two of my old G.I.Joe action figures. The scene will most likely be a fightscene. Since both of the figures are, in their proper surroundings, ninjas, I suspect it will be inspired by this. However, the temptation to go lightsaber is everhanging in the air. So I might do the old LS routine. What is going to make this production a little different tho, is the fact that it will be shot on a green screen (all the more reason to do the Star Wars thing), which enables me to pull the old switcharoo on the backdrops for the fight. In other words, I will be able to have them duke it out on virtually any background I care for. This gives me the artistic freedom I love so much, while not be that more difficult to make.
The making of this clip will be hard, as we'll need about 2-3000 images of the entire animation. But having a few cams about, it will go fairly smoothly, I'm sure. Post production is where the real challenge is at, altho guys at my work have experience with this, and are willing to help.
All in all, I am very excited about this, and I hope I can start shooting principal photography in about a week from now. I bought a few items yesterday, such as wire for the figures, and a drill to drill the hole in their "shoes" bigger. I'm gonna buy some green paint either today or tomorrow, and some cardboard. It's gonna be great. I'll of course keep you all up to date in here, as to how the project is moving along. And you'll be the first to see the final product :)
Spelling lawsuit

Sometimes I wonder what the point of a lawsuit really is. In this day and age, a lawsuit is not really a lawsuit anymore. It's another way of saying "You don't mess with me or this will happen". Suing people left and right, for minor offenses or whatever really seems completely stupid. I was reading some news updates on imdb.com when I stumbled upon this piece of news:
"Former Beverly Hills 90210 star Tori Spelling's parents have reportedly stopped talking to her after poking fun at her mother in a recent episode of her new show. Aaron Spelling and Candy Spelling were furious after watching their daughter's comedy series So NoTORIous,
in which Tori allegedly parodies her mother's "eBay room." A friend
tells gossip site PageSix.com, "There is a scene in the first episode
of her new show, So NoTORIous, in which she makes fun of the
eBay room in her parents' house. Her mother has a huge shopping problem
and has a whole room dedicated to the stuff she buys on the site. When
Candy saw the episode, she threatened Tori and said she was going to
sue her." Spelling's spokesperson said on her behalf, "We take poetic
license with everyone and every story line on the show." So NoTORIous premieres on VH1 on April 2"
Kicking it off.. an eBay room?!? That's the first time I went WTF when reading this. Moving on... suing your own fucking children... how messed up is that? I mean, you are supposed to raise your children and create little images of yourself or yourself as you'd like to be. Ideals and morale in place etc. etc. What's up with the suing? For making fun of her mom. So what? I am at a loss for words here. Granted, some people have issues with their parents/kids or whatever, but suing her. What are they expecting. If my mom sued me, I think that would prolly be the end of our relationship. How nice is that?
Later, on imdb as well, I read about some 72 year-old actor dude, who was aquitted from the murder of his wife. He was deemed innocent by a jury of his peers and by a senior judge blah blah blah... but no, that isn't enough for her family. So they are suing him for 30million dollars. 30 fucking mil. A personal civil suit. He declares bankruptcy, nobody comes out the winner. What did that gain? Fuck all. Suing people for the death of others, in particular when they've gotten off in a trial, should be suable as well. I should sue somebody... or perhaps I get sued for libel now. I wish...
Geeking irl

Rancor asked me a few days back, if I wanted to join him, a guy from his workplace, and the guy from his workplace's friend in a game night kind of setup. Apparently they were one man short, so I was called in. I reluctantly agreed, not being a fan of doing social stuff with complete strangers. But knowing Ranc, I figure I might as well give it a shot. That, and the fact that a deaf girl would be cooking us food as well. That I could not miss.
For a brief moment I was scared the game we would place would be pen and paper roleplaying - something I consider myself above somehow. All power to those who like to play it, but I just find it geeky to a degree with which I wouldn't be comfortable identifying myself. However, it turned out to be the game of Descent (not the computer game with the spaceship that floats around), but an actual fantasy dungeon co-op kind of boardgame. It was a somewhat decent game, taking about 5hrs per game. One guy acts as Overlord/dungeon master, whereas the rest take on the roles of different heroes. It reminded me a lot of DiabloII. All in all an amusing evening with some slightly geeky people. I think I'll whip up my bro and go find a game we could check out from time to time. There are a lot of cool games with different themes. I find I actually enjoy the concept of playing a game for 7 hours straight, as long as it is even slightly entertaining.
The deaf girl was sort of weirding me out too. She was probably a nice person, but it's just odd to have a fifth person around you all the time, that you do not in any way communicate with. She was in the kitchen messing with stuff, when we arrived. Max told us not to speak to her, as she wouldn't hear anything anyway. But it's surprisingly hard not to comment on certain things. Like, when we ate, it is polite to comment on her food, which happened to be fairly nice. But... she's deaf. Won't hear anything. So I told Max, who speaks sign language, to tell her. Or I commented to him, and he translated. But for all I know, he could be telling her I thought her food tasted like puke. Or that I was gonna kill everybody in the room as soon as we were done eating. And when she went to bed, she talked to Max briefly, and waved at the rest of us. And as a reaction, I just said "night night"... then trailed off into a indistinct mumble and a halfhearted wave. She didn't catch any of it anyway. Quite an interesting evening all in all.

My head... my poor poor head. I forget when I was last this hung over. It's been 9 hours since the last drop of alcohol passed my lips, and yet I still feel as if I only stopped 10min ago. When I woke, I had the familiar feeling of a guy banging a hammer clean into my forehead. Yes, the madness of another St. Patrick's Day is over. And what fun it was. Rancor, Tessa and myself went to a local Irish pub called the Globe. Crammed with people, we still managed to find two stools at the bar, which made getting new drinks a lot easier... too easy in fact :)
I don't know how much I had to drink. All I know is, I certainly had enough. Damn... But what the hell, we sang, we clapped, we slammed snakebites down our throats like there were no tomorrow, and I even got a free Guinness beerglass hat, for which I was later offered first a clean 500 danish kroner and then a gram of weed. I hung on to it tho...
Now it's time for some food, and perhaps a few hours in front of a good flickershow, then we go at it again. Thanks St. Paddy :)
